Did you know? The biogas plant at Apsley Farms has recovered over 50,000 tonnes of CO2 in the last 8 years.
This CO2 has been absorbed by the arable crops growing and captured in our tanks during the digestion process, we then clean this CO2, test it with our laboratory and is then sold to the food and drink industry to put the fizz in your drink!
The Farm has now invested in the Uni Sensor Carboscan system, a state-of-the-art automated laboratory. This System allows for the provision of CO2 testing services onsite at the Farm, 24/7.
We offer CO2 testing services to any commercial operation. If you are in need of a Certificate our laboratory takes 45 minutes to complete one. You can arrive in a car or lorry, borrow a 6kg canister or we can test directly from your lorry. If you don’t have transport we can organise a courier return service for the canister.

The CO2 testing process
The Unisensor Carbo Scan is a factory-calibrated system for the online process monitoring of CO2 gas ensuring end-to-end quality assurance.
Unisensor uses the method of optical absorption spectroscopy to identify contaminants, along with its own integrated compartment which performs the different sensory tests (which only a human can carry out) including odour, taste, clarity and oil. When the test is completed an Analysis Certificate will be issued.

The cost of Analysis is at a standard rate of £250 excluding VAT.
We are able to test any samples brought to us at your appointment and give a full report within 45 minutes.

Expertise in the CO2 Gas industry
The Apsley Farms biogas plant has generated over 50,000 tonnes of CO2 in the last 8 years, which is supplied to a range of industries. This includes food production, breweries, beverage processing, automotive industry, oil and gas industries and water treatment plants.
Our onsite CO2 testing team is led by head engineer, Nigel Fuggle who has over 20 years experience in the Gas industry. The quality of CO2 will be tested in real time, using the Uni Sensor Carbo Scan.
This quality assurance system ensures that the CO2 tested will be certified to food-grade quality.
Bulk CO2 supplier
Bulk CO2 is obtained as a by-product of the Apsley Farm biomethane production plant. Our CO2 is checked throughout the process of being made, plus each tank load is checked before it goes out by our inhouse fleet of CO2 lorries.
